Dash Modifications

Featured Replies

Curious to see what you've done with your dash, whether it be a different steering wheel, gauges, headunits, a liquid gauge holder/viewer, new clocks, different clock LED's, etc...

Photos please! :)

96 threads started since October, that some going pal. You practically are the Fabia I section ;)

I've painted the centre console trims, ill see if I can find the pics.

i fitted my alpine headunit the other week :) absoulte pain in the arse to get all the cables behind the dash there is no room at all!!

Ill be fitting a VW Touareg MFD 2 Headunit to our VRS and having the centre console area flocked or retrimmed in leather by seat surgeons

All I've done in mine is paint the air vent surrounds, looks much better. Can just see them in this picture.

Ive carbon fibre wrappedsome bits of trim round my alpine headunit, changed the ashtray for a cupholder and put a sparco steering wheel in

Vents, Ashtray and gaiter surround painted to key in with "silver" seats, knob, pedals, mat edging & dash clocks.

also, foot well lights.

Citi Golf GTi had a different wheel on a fabia dash..

It's also what gave me the confidence to paint up the vents... cuz if it's OEM on anything it's "ok" to do ;)

Picture not brilliant but I hope you get the idea.

But I think a bit of chrome trim, 3M Carbon and some blue leds break up the standard interior quite well. Might not be to everyone’s taste but I’m happy with it. Might give you some ideas !

I'm really liking the blue theme. How much work was involved with doing it? I'd be very interested in getting it done if it wasnt to much hassle!

Hmmmmmm, this was definatly not my idea and thankfully it isnt my car. All swmbo's doing :S I look like a right plank when i drive it as its also got a SAZ no plate

Now. I don't want that... But I do like the idea of some less colourful detail...

Are they stickers that I might find on an ebay?

its vinyl from focus, like sticky back plastic, costs about £5 for a decent sized roll, you just have to be very patient with it while sticking it on. You can get it in lots of different designs, not all as 'in your face' as the smarties :giggle:

Changing the Leds is not as bad as most people think but it does take time , patience and a steady hand.

There is a guide on www.fabiars.de , it's in German but you can get it translated via the web. Fairly easy to follow and explains what type of leds are needed

Hope that helps

Your a star  How are the LED's held in place? does look quite fiddly and fairly easy to f**k up though :S

Wait until vRSTurbo (Luke) sees the blue dials. ;)

Thanks for the complement Gaz_vrs.The led's in the cluster are soldered directly to the PCB but are fairly easy to replace, the most difficult bit is stripping the various switches and dash to replace the other led's but it can be done but you need to be carefull or you might end up buying replacement parts !!

How hard is it to replace the standard greens?

All I did was to buy some thick plastic card (from a model shop) cut it to the shape of the cupholder but make it a bit wider, then bond it to the top of the cupholder. Position it under the center console and drill one hole either side of the plastic card up into the center console. I also put some double sided foam tape to hold it in place as well. Hope this makes sense
