does anyone know what size are the furby door compnent speakers in the front? isit about 5inshes ?

Are they component speakers? I mean OEM? Is there a crossover hidden away somewhere? I'm only asking I guess, because my crossover is staring me in the face every time I open either front door, so was wondering how the OEM system worked? similar?

By definition, if the speaker consists of 2 parts (components, even :P ) then they would still be component speakers, whether or not they had a high tech crossover? If not they would be co-axials, right?

I know car makers like to brag about 8 speaker stereos, but that's all BS really. A good co-ax can sound better than a cheap component set, if they are placed well... but that's usually the problem, people don't tend to have ears on their shins

Oh right... You gotta remember the ICE background I come from... When Joel was putting together my component speakers, I just thought the stuff coming out was basic stuff with no techie bits in it. And when your crossover goes from being a "bit behind a tweeter" to a "8" wide x 4" high box in your door pocket" it can only emphasise that.

Component speakers are made up of seperate speakers, if you have 2 way components you have one tweeter and one mid-range if you have 3 way then you have a tweeter, mid-range and a mid-bass driver. Coaxials are when you have the tweeter built on to the mid-range. A 6x9 is a type of coaxial but has a mid, tweeter and super-tweeter which is pointless.

The crossovers don't make it a component set because coaxials also come with crossovers to control the frequencies and make sure the right driver is playing what it's supposed to.

Depends if they are 2, 3 or 4 way speakers. I have some MB quart DKC169 in the rear shelf at the mo, they are 2 way speakers, usually go for about
