Seat Belt Warning flashes periodically when driving

Featured Replies

The seat belt warning in my Skoda Fabia 2006, start lightning up and the chime alerts sometimes when I'm driving even though my seat belt is fastened. It is quite annoying, and it happens quite often like once or twice pr. 5 minutes.

When it happens I just move slightly which often works, but sometimes I need to wriggle the seat belt connector in order to make it stop.

I can’t see that any of the fuses is controlling this specific part, so there is probably no option than to try to fix it :) The question is how?

Turn it off with VAG COM

Usually caused by a stalk but dint think I've seen a mk1 fabia with a seat belt warning.

Tech1e>> Well mine has. Where is this stalk normally located?

Sy>>VAG COM seems a bit drastic, but perhaps a feasible solution because this alarm is driving me mad, pardon the pun.

I see your in Denmark, probably why Im very sure we dont have them.

But we get the same issue with the Octavia, the stalk is the part your clip the belt into with the red button on it, the switch will be faulty in there.

Is it likely to be the switch in the buckle. You could pull the connector out from the bottom of the seat and short it out, but that is a bit pikey.

I have had a look underneath the passenger seat, but am a bit uncertain which cables do what, and how I unplug the seat belt indicator.

I took a few pictures, not of great quality though, because of the lack of space down there. Passenger seat is located in the left side.

Taken from the back of the passenger seat. Hand brake and buckle is to the right of the picture. The cable from the buckle is the black cable you can barely see to the right, that goes behind the red box.

Taken from the front. The cable from the buckle is the black to the left that is attached to the white strip, and goes into the red box.

So, anybody have any input to how to disconnect this cable somehow?

looks like the red plug is the one you want. Unplug that and join the two connections in the plug with a paperclip or something BUT DOUBLE CHECK ITS NOT THE AIRBAG CONNECTIONS FIRST then turn on the ignition and see if the light comes on.

Easiest thing is probably to undo the front of the seat and let it rock back to get at the cables better - I'm assuming that it's the same as an octavia seat.

The two pin black plug should be the one for the seat belt.
