Yet another Central Locking Problem.....

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone out there may be able to help me.

When I went out to the car the other morning to go to work the Drivers-side rear passenger door would not unlock; tried unlocking the car via the key fob, key and via the switch on the driver’s door console. No luck. I tried manually opening the door via the handle and noted that the lock pin would rise, and then immediately drop back again as soon as the door handle was released. I checked the window to see if it was a potential wiring problem, but the window is working fine, both via the driver’s door console and the window switch on the door itself.

Having searched through the forums I've come to the conclusion that the lock unit must have failed. Does this diagnosis sound correct?

I have, after much 'persuasion', managed to remove the door card from the door, however I'm not too sure how to go about removing the lock, or at least getting the door open so I can remove the lock. Any tips or suggestions? The only potential problem is that the Child Lock is enabled on this door, as my 4 year old usually sits behind the drivers seat.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Martin
