Rear Caliper Replacement? PROBLEMS

Featured Replies

Right Bought a new rear caliper from dealer got it today and the bango bolt hole had no threads in?????? never seen nothing like it before....so now I have to wait for a new one to come tomorrow. Now I have tried to put old one back on and can't stop it from leaking?I have tried everything Got new copper washers and still leaks,Called dealer they said I would have to replace the brake line as they do NOT sell the banjo bolt or washers seperate??????they want £30 for new line surley should not have to replace that????? it is leaking where the flange on pipe meets caliper.....Also car has to sit over night with caliper off will I run into a problem if the fluid drains???? will it put on any lights???? thanks

You won't get any lights, unless the brake fluid all runs out, then you will get a brake fluid light, which isn't logged on the ecu anyway.

Is the mounting face clean, with no dirt etc on it? Maybe some grit is stopping it from sealing properly?

Just had a thought,

If you let the system run dry, you will have to bleed the abs modulator using vagcom.

Might be a little bit late now.

All done now what a nightmare with dealer had to buy another caliper and they send the other of for a warrenty claim could take a month to get money back????????? To anyone doing this I would recomend replacing the brake line as it come with new bolt and washers only £16 new as the other banjo bolt the threads tend to go on them.....
