New Fabia vRS owner

Featured Replies

Well, I say new, but I've actually had the car for about 10 months now, so I thought it was about time to say hello!

I previously had a '94 Toyota Supra GZ import, which I loved, but due to the fact that it was hard to carry anything in it depite it's massive size, and most of my driving being on the motorway (21 mpg seems like a bit of a waste when you're just trundling along at 70!), I decided to get something more practical, but still fairly quick, hence I decided on the vRS!

It's a 2005 54 plate in silver, and I bought it for £3600 with 110k on the clock (now done 116k), which I thought was a pretty good deal - the guy I bought it off was going to trade it in for a new scirocco, so I just gave him a little bit more than the trade in value and we were both happy! I did want a black one really, but the silver is handy for a lazy person in that it doesn't show the dirt so much :)

One of the reasons I went for the vRS is because I thought it would be pretty reliable (the supra never missed a beat, despite being 15 years old & having over 100k on the clock), and it has been really, but it does have quite a few of the common niggles that seem to be prevalent (such as the handbrake not coming off fully, and water leaking through the rear door seals). I have found this site particularly helpful though, and I'm slowly fixing them thanks to you guys

I've also had the power steering not working for the first 10 seconds or so problem, combined with no battery warning light when I turn the ignition on, and having had to jump start it a couple of times in the recent cold weather, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the most common fault I found when searching (load signal wire), so might need to start a new thread I'm afraid!

Anyway, like I said, those problems are for another thread - this is just to say hello, so hi! :hi:
