Delivery Woes

Featured Replies

Hi I am new to the forum, and Skoda NON ownership. Ordered my car 25th September under the NO VAT deal which stated the car should be registered by 31st December. Early on I was informed of a delay and the car will be week 3 January. Then I was told just before x-mas that it had been oushed forward to end of week 1. At the end of week 1 I phoned the dealer to be told it had been pushed back to week 3 again. Started to get a little concerned so started to do some research and found the floods that were blamed were in August so they have had plenty of time to catch up I would have thought. I am now being told it is a part for the engine in short dupply, Diesel Particulate Filter (exhaust). Spoke to Skoda UK and got told the delays have been snowballing since the introuduction of the scrappage sceme, after the recession where they laid off some staff. Shortly before the chat with Skoda got a call from my dealer telling me the build week had been removed from my order, so I am thinking what the F### is going on here. Dealer reckons if I am lucky may see the car in March possibly April?

What I can say is I have had loads of brand new cars and never experienced anything like it, those cars include, Porsche, more than 1 BMW, Vauxhall, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen..........

The customer service is non existant, when I was told I was likely to get the car early Feb and said it might as well be registered on an 11 plate on 1st March I was told no you have to have it within 10 days of import. When I enquired about ordr cancellation so I could buy an ex-demo Octavia I was told I would loose my deposit for breach of contract ! When I enquired about upgrading the spec of the unbuilt car as it had taken longer and so I had more spare money saved they told me they could not as this would be a new order and push me to the back of the queue? When I enquired about compensation I was told £150 for 18 weeks and £300 for 25 weeks, BIG DEAL.! I would rather have the car than that.

Just asked for the spec upgrade from SE to Greenline to be complimentary instead of the financial compensation as this is about the only thing that will make me hang on.

My point is they knew about delays when they took my money and they have extended the NO VAT deal in Jan for cars registered up to the end of March, but when you look at my situation it seems they are taking deposits on cars they cannot possibly build and deliver in time which is nothing less than misrepresentation, if they carry on this will seriously damage their reputation.

First of all welcome to the forum!

Yes, Skoda are experiencing huge delays on diesel Octavia's, a quick search on here will reveal plenty of threads from other disgruntled members

...and they have extended the NO VAT deal in Jan for cars registered up to the end of March.

I think this is just for petrol models?

Trust me it'll be worth the wait. The reason for the delays is increased demand for what is a great car!

Know exactly how you feel...

Ordered 1.6CR 4x4 in May; told 10-12 weeks for delivery.

A few weeks later I was told BW42, BW41, BW45, BW51, BW09, BW01.

I think the car arrived in England yesterday, so I should have it by the end of the month.

Not impressed with either the dealer or Skoda UK, initially. Went into low earth orbit following my initial correspondence with my Skoda UK 'Case Manager' and sent snotty e-mails in both English and Czech to Skoda AS in the Czech Republic. However, things have improved of late and SUK now contact me as opposed to the other way around. (Dealer claimed to be helpless, which I guess they are).

Having checked with Trading Standards that 8-10 months was an unreasonable period to have to wait when the contract was signed on the basis of 10-12 week delivery, they said I'd be perfectly within my rights to cancel the order and receive a full refund of deposit. I was therefore on the verge of cancelling the order and buying a 60 plate Skooby Legacy demonstrator when my Build Week was brought forward from BW9 to BW1. (Car was actually built during BW51 according to SUK).

Does leave a bad taste even if the £300 sweetens it just a little. (SUK/Dealer will see the benefit of the £300 as it is going on retailer fitted accessories - which I suspect they know will happen in 90% of cases anyway).

I just hope that the wait was worth it - I'll let you know in a few weeks...

Good luck in getting the compensation, my Superb took 24 weeks to arrive and two months on still calling the Dealer and Skoda Uk to see where my M&S vouchers are :'(

Now waiting on the wifes Octavia, but at least I am saving money to pay for more of the car up front and it's still VAT free and the 2010 price.

These cars are really worth the wait hence biting the bullet and ordering another knowing full well how long the wait would be.

According to Skoda's web site and my dealer the extended VAT free is for Petrol cars only.

Thanks, I am hanging on at present but need the car before the April Half Term. Do you have a choice on how the compensation is paid or does it have to be M&S vouchers? Would ralther have the roof bars and a bike carrier. Or a spec upgrade from the factory to Greenline spec with the fuel prices forever rising! Week 18 for me is Friday 28th Jan, sat down and worked it out last night so not long to go now before I qualify for the first part of the compensation.

Just phoned my dealer and build week for my 1.6TDI SE Hatch has re-appeared on my order, now BW13 so end of march/start of April. So bearing in mind I ordered a week before the end of Sept that's over 6 months and will take me way into the £300 compensation deal. I am trying to push for an upgarde to Greenline from SE as a gesture of good will or am threatening to cancel.

Compensation runs from when the order is accepted by the factory, not by the dealer ,to delivery to customer. If the dealer delays entering order or if as in our case the annual holiday was on at the factory the date you are expecting compensation from is not necessarily the date you will be paid from.We missed out on the £300 ( only got the £150)due to Factory closure.:(

Husband is a very happy bunny though. The car was worth the wait.

Thanks, my dealer insists that the order was put in that day, the Friday 24/9/10 and accpeted on the Monday by the factory, he was keen to get it in, because he was told order befor ethe end of September to get the car in and registered for before the end of the NO VAT deal 31st Dec ! LOL

You won't get an upgrade to a different trim level as that would require ordering a new car.

Different if you were asking for an upgrade on you're alloys etc which could be dealer fitted, or even optional extras which can be added as long as you are far enough away from build date. Can't see you getting to change to a different car though.

Yep you were right, been told I can change to Greenline but it will delay the order further and I want the car ASAP before the spring school holidays so it is staying an SE. On the plus side I shall qualify for the first part of the compensation in a weeks time so will be getting some bolts ons for the car. Dealer says the Greenline is notciebly different drive and I better off with the SE anyway.
