Sat Nav with Bluetooth

Featured Replies

My visor-mounted bluetooth has died, and my satnav is due for replacement - I'm tired of being told 'go to nearest road' or 'here be dragons'

Some sat-navs have a bluetooth function, so I could replace satnav and bluetooth with one device, but I'm curious as to how good they are as a bluetooth. I had the visor mounted one pretty much straight in front of my face, but I prefer to keep the satnav low down and to the left so I can see all the important stuff going on in front of me (*) - does anybody have any practical experience

(*) what is it with some people ? How can you drive at night with the sat nav at max brightness (I could see it from several car lengths back) and stuck right in the middle of your field of view ?. Should we expect this from blondes in MINIs. ?

Hi,

not quite the same but in my old pug 406 I had a sony head unit that head bluetooth build in .. the mic was in the front facia of the stereo down by my left knee ... never had a problem with anyone I was talking to they said it was crystal clear ... so if the unit is well designed mic positioning can be not as as important as you would think !!!

hope it helps

Iain

I have a Garmin 1490T which has Bluetooth. It works fine for me, both as a Satnav and for the phone. There are one or two 'funnies' in the mapping locally (the speed limit in St Mellion is apparently 45mph!?) but that is a different matter.

Rob.
