Lose gear stick in neutral

Featured Replies

Couple of quick question peeps as I'm new to the mrkII Octavia vrs.

The 2006 car which I'm picking up next weekend seems to have a very lose gearstick when left in neutral, you can move it from side to side very easily, is that normal on these?

Also the car has green calipers! I thought they are all red on the mrkII?

Cheers for your time and sorry if these are daft question!

Chris

mine's 06 and i wouldn't say it was more loose in neutral than any other car i've driven, are you buying it from a dealer or private?

the calipers are green on the vRS, i think they look great on my car which is Corrida red and 18" vRS alloys :D

The change to red calipers happened in 2008 at about the time the diesel came into the vRS lineup IIRC, before that they were all green.

The loose gearstick could be a broken spring, as it should feel like any other car.

Cheers for that:thumbup: buying from a small trader but will get them to have a look as they are having it MOT'd and they found it needs a new suspension arm and bushes

Chris

Yeah the green match the Skoda brand much better.

Changing to red was obv a cost-saving measure. tut tut.

Green ftw etc.

Con grats on the purchase Chris.

I know youve been thinking about one for a while.

About to follow suit and get a mk2 myself B)

I assume you mean 2006 not 2008? Mine has the red calipers and Stream mp3 unit, from what I've gathered around here it must have been built around the time they were changing over.

I have a 56 plate Octavia with around 24K on the clock and the gearstick isn't loose in neutral.
