installing alarm... help

Featured Replies

Hey there,

Im installing an alarm system on my mk1 fabia classic (well trying to at least) and I need to find some wires to hook up to.

Turn Signals - I need to find the best place to hook up to the indicators so that the alarm unit can operate the lights. Where is it best to tap into these wires, what do they look like and how do I get to them?

Central locking - Can I tap into the trigger wire from the door loom?

Also, where do you think is best to place the control unit. at the moment I have it placed just under the centre console.

Hi I am planning to do install a viper 1002 and have got a plan together.

I am surprised an alarm brain can fit under the centre console?! I would put it just above the kick panel passenger side, or behind it, or on top of the glove box extending the wires as appropriate.

Central locking - you need a 180ohm resistor as it is a single-wire system. This is fixed onto the unlock wire, so that unlock ground provides a resistance of 180 ohms. The normally open input should be wired to ground. The wire you need to feed these to is the 6 pin white connector, pin 5 (green/blue at passenger side) where the wires pass through the a pillar to the front door.

If you remove the cover under the dash, you will see a black box with loads of wires going to it. Look for the connector called XS6 which is a 16 pin connector. Number 16 of 16 is a black/white wire and this is the left-hand indicator. Number 14 of 16 is a black/green wire and controls the right indicators. Remember that you need to diode isolate these, otherwise when you put your indicators on while driving all the indicators will light up.
