No side airbags, just for the driver and the co driver, one airbag for each of them. But you could be right, there could be side sensors for frontal airbags.

Does the "door closed" signal (for alarm, interior light etc) not come from the latch unit? That could be another pair. Add in two redundant ones for the central locking motor, and that could be the 6?
