octavia mk1 cooling fan

Featured Replies

I have a mk 1 octavia 1.9tdi 130bhp, starts and drives as it should. Recently noticed that temp gauge is taking lot longer to get up to temp, although when there sits where it should and stay s there. Noticed recently that when I start engine from cold the cooling fans are running and have never noticed this before im guessing they are running permanently also although unable to hear them which is normal!

Could this be some form of temp sender? Is it easy to chang if it is of course, with a haynes manual?

Cheers, appreciate any advise

If it takes a lot longer to warm up (or never quite gets there) and drops when you put the aircon on, suspect the Thermostat - a lot seem to have failed this winter.

If you are using the aircon to demist, that'll keep one fan running.

As Interphase has stated if you have the climate control on demist or auto one fan will run all the time. My Bora tdi 130 sport is taking much longer to warm up recently. Replaced the thermostat, & it made no difference.

Thanks guys. my car does'nt have climate control just standard heater controls and air con not sure if this makes a difference perhaps I will check if I have the fan control blowing on low setting. certainly dont have air con on from cold start never really think about it.

Wow, someone who actually has an Ambiente SE!

I would expect that as long as the aircon button is pressed then the fan will stay on even if you don't have climatronic.

I've only ever seen one, at a dealer and they thought it was a normal ambiente when they got it.

I feel honoured now although I really wanted an elegance because of the centre armrest!

If aircon's on then one fan will run but if aircon's off and interior fans off then engine fan should be off unless it warm enough to run it,

Could be a faulty engine temp sensor
