Xenon's self leveling not working

Featured Replies

Just noticed recently that the Xenon self leveler is not working. When I turn the head lights on in the morning they no longer do the up/down dance that they used to and sit in the same position when driving. Would like to get this fixed asap.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

J

Mine have never done that on the Fabia... they do on the Octy though. Now I'm worried!

Nor does my Polo. The beam dims/gets brighter, but I assume this is just the ballasts getting to power?

I do hear an odd wirring/motor noise periodically when standing near the car with the engine and lights on though, not sure if that's the leveling?

The leveling happens just after you switch them on. You'll see them get slightly brighter and while doing that you'll see them adjusting to the right level. I think the leveling thing is a legal requirement. Most cars should have a sensor at the back of the car to measure how much it's tilted, depending on what weight is in the back, this then tells the lights what level to set at.

(Well I think that's how it works  )

Yeah, thats how i understand it. I think there are sensors on the front and back, maybe they need looking at?

There's one sensor and it's on the back axle. Yep I think I'll just take it to the stealer and he can fiddle with the VAGCOM and the sensor.

They've never done it even from new. It definitely self levels though because when I lowered the car I could only see about 6 feet in front with the lights on. Took it to the dealer to adjust and they didn't mention any issues. I'll pay more attention when I turn them on next but it's definitely not as noticeable as on the Octy if it does adjust the beam because the Octy flicks right down and then back up. It doesn't always do it though...

I`m not lucky enough to have them on my fabia, but my mates did, and i remember because it was one of the first things i commented about it when i drove it.

Ive never noticed mine do it. Is there a fuse for it?

Good question.

I can't get on the site that has the fuse panel layout to

check. I've heard one of the causes is the sensor located on the rear axel can get knocked out of position and therefore not function

right.
