Headphones

Featured Replies

I need a good pair of headphones for listening to mainly music. Been listening to a lot of Spotify lately. I don't want anything that goes in my ears want something that goes over the top. Budget is around £100. Want something that's loud, plenty of bass but still clear when you turn them up loud and don't distort. I've looked into noise cancelling but will I get this within my budget and is it worth it? I'll only be using them at home.

Thanks in advance

Martyn

I have a sennheiser set which I find very good, however, I am not an true audiohile. Can't remember the model off hand, however, they had very good reviews.

Now i don't own these but the Grado sr60i have a very good write up ,although they are open back.

I have a set of these and they are fantastic. Comfy. and really decent bass.

What ever you do, don't buy Skullcandy!

They look and sound great, but they're made of cheese...

I'm on my 3rd set now, after the plastic inside the headband adjuster snapped in half on the first 2 sets I had.

This is just from wearing them whilst sat on the computer!

I treated myself to a set of Grado SR80i and they sound awesome. They do get a bit uncomfortable if wearing for a long time though. And you look like you should be operating a wireless! Regardless of that though I'm very pleased with them and would recommend.

Couple of people have mentioned Grado and are supposed to be good but the open back design is putting me off a little. I won't touch Skullcandy with a barge pole. My one and only pair lasted about a week. One of the earphones blew and it wasnt like I'd had them blasting either.

Still not sure which ones to go for. Keep the suggestions coming. Model names would be good too if possible.

I've got a set of Bose in ear headphones which are fantastic....

Doh...just read that you don't want in ears! Maybe Bose over the heads would suit you better?!

I've just seen these which could be good. It's getting 4 out of 5 stars pretty consistently but one or two forums slag off Bose something awful. I want clarity but bass too. Does anyone know anything about them?

I've got a set of Senheiser over ear headphones, cost £70 and sound ok but because they are open back they let of external sound through, and others in the room can hear what you are listening to.

I've also got a set of Bose over the ear headphones, these are closed cup so let virtually no sound in and best of all they need to be REALLY loud before anyone else in the room can hear them.

I prefer the Bose set, better bass and sound insulation give a much better experience. The only thing letting them down is the cable, and the stupid connectors on the end. The cable is thin, and the connectors feel like they will break. Saying that I've had them for a long time and not had a problem.

I have these ones

The ones you link to are on ear ones, ie. they sit on your ear rather than round them.
