CAI options

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I want to get a nice CAI setup.

Now, on my Focus ST i have the Simota CAI system and i must say I love it on that.. So i checked Simota and they have one kit for the MKV GTI.

My question is... Will it fit on my OCTY II VRS?

I know my octy has the same motor as the MK6 but not sure if the intake system is the same as the mk5 or mk6 GTI or if it is identical with all 3.

This is the kit on the GTI

And this is my octy bay

What have others used on their car?

In AUS the air box has to be enclosed so some of the ones out there arent going to be suitable..

Any suggestions?

The mk5 GTI (withthe TFSI) engine is identical to the TFSI vRS as are the brakes, fuel pump, intercooler, suspension and ARBs etc. The top intakes are thought to be the ITG maxogen, Forge twintake and Forge twintake.

With the mk6 GTI/vRS TSI then your limited to the Evoms and ITG being thought to be the best. The simita filter you have shown looks to be really small when you consider the surface area.

I had the ITG and its immense. Muckipup is now using it on his car. have a read though the reviews here, lots available

product review thread have a read though the scirrocco central tuning forums. there are plenty of mk6 options there. id be going evoms or ITG

This is an EVOMS fitted to my tfsi............

Including replacement engine cover, it gives good gains and a sweet sound, the gains will improve when I go to stage 2.

As you have the Tsi engine, the MKV intakes wont fit. There are several for the Tsi that will though. The evoms and Itg as previously mentioned are highly regarded. This Itg one made an extra 20hp on a stage 1 Scirocco.

I'm confused on that front, the OP has a 2011MY but states TFSI in the info?! :S

But he's showing a photo of his engine bay with the Tsi engine. Also all of the FL Octy's come with the Tsi now.

In Aus, the VRS came with a TSI engine from MY2010 onwards (basically the FL model) so the MkV CAIs wont fit. It'll have to be the MkVI one...

I wonder if the ITG one is much noisier than stock. It looks like a good package...

thevRS brochures still stage TFSI for the engine spec, when it is now in fact a TSI. this can be seen in the photo above

My bad :)

I know there is a Tsi and TFSI motor, i thought they were pretty much the same. Just the VAG group remarketed it for some reason last year.

That ITG one looks pretty good...

I'm also looked and found that BMC do one as well...

I think one of the main differences is the timing belt, rubber typpe stuff on the tfsi, chain driven on the Tsi. Also the airbox isn't an integral part of thengine cover!
