ABS Module

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know a good place to get a replacement (used or refirb) ABS unit as my Recovery pump is Kaput!

Do the codes (pump and ecu) have to be exact or can later models be used? i.e 6Q0 614 417D ....E.....F....ETC ETC

Edited by dwappat

Yes the codes have to be exact, whats the fault code in the pump, sure its not just a blown fuse?

Well knock me down with a feather!!!! Thankyou so much for you inadvertant help. I tapped in the error code 301 thinking it strange that you were unaware of the code

and it led me back to this forum and a thread about a blown ABS feed fuse on top of the battery box. Using my phone torchey thingey in the dark I check my fuse 6 and it has a hairline crack in it !

.

Off to the dealer tomorrow to get a replacement and hope it is a corroded weak fuse and not soething more sinister that blew it in first place. could be a few hundred quid saved though so

thankyou once again. :D

Same fault code read using VAG-COM, same solution for Fabia 1.4 16V 2000 W reg! Awesome tips.

Had been quoted ~500 for ABS Hydraulic Pump and ~500 for Control Unit and ~150 for labour by two Skoda dealers.

Also this has possibly resolved a problem with the alarm going off at random - fingers crossed! (When I reconnected the battery with this new fuse in place it triggered the alarm but since then (<1 day) it has not given a false alarm, whereas usually this would be several times a day.)

Got the replacement 40A strip fuse (for position 6 in battery fuse / junction box) from VW dealer (as used on Mk IV Golf) - cost = 2.50!

a little experince goes a long way, dont worry its probably the cold. the pump does a test run every time you start up, when its really cold sometimes the fuse pops as the motor jars for a sec before it goes.

I only didnt recognize the code as ours are normally five digit codes for the dealer diag equipment.

Glad it helped though and maybe saved you some dosh.

Thanks,

Irony is I teach (and currently am on this topic) motor vehicle students how to diagnose faults and to look at the obvious things first like fuses, but even I missed the hairline fracture.

The brand new equipment we have just had delivered is from a company called called TEXA and that was the code it spat out. I think it should have been 00301.

Interestingly the steering angle sensor fault it picked up turned out to be a dodgy earth lead, mind you, it's been a great car for the students to practice on, Different fault every week!

Ive seen it missed loads of times, might be worth checking all of them, sometimes there is a spare fuse that doesnt have a wire going to it that you can use.

I'll check tomorrow, thanks for the tip.

i need to look for this as i have code 301 coming up....

but also another thread said something about the washer fluid leaking all over it and corroding it, i'm sure my pipe was burst right above it, will need to check in the daylight, but i'm away for 10 days working tomorrow...

just went out and checked there, didnt even notice they were fuses, number 6 defo gone though, briskoda to the rescue again :rofl:

will the 50A fuse of number 4 do for now?? Number four seems to have to cables :)

Hi

I hope it's OK to continue this thread for my related problem:

My mothers Fabia 1.4 2001 was showing ABS warning light and also gave an "ABS - No comms" message (18057) to the analyser.

The fuse was unfortunately OK, so that meant I had a broken ABS control unit :-(

It was checked by a specialiced ECU repair company, but it was beyond repair.

I am now looking for a second hand replacement, but are unsure of the exact differences indicated by the part numbers.

The car is a 2001 1.4 16V, AUA engine, and the Bosch number for the ABS electronics is 265 800 003. The hydraulics unit is 265 222 006. This one is also stamped with 6Q0 614 117D - seems to be a VAG number.

I have located parts from a similar 2003 model on the net - with the same Bosch numbers, but unfortunately the hydraulics has the letter "E" at the end, instead of the "D".

Tech1e mentioned near the top of this thread that the numbers had to match - but is this absolutely necessary with the revision letters?

Normally it would indicate an improved version? Or could there be something about the mountings etc.?

The regional Skoda garage is unsure about this, so is Bosch Norway...

Bosch also gave me different Bosch numbers for the replacement units - I take this as an indication that several units could fit?

Has anyone successfully replaced their ABS units with newer versions?

I would rather have a newer version, as googling around has indicated some problems with VAG/Bosch 5.7 units around the 2000 models (including VW, Audi, Seat).

Or would I be better off staying with an older, identical unit?

Thankful for any suggestions.

Regards,

Nils

Let Skoda decide what to fit. There will be an updated unit, as they had real problems with the 5.7 controllers.

I tried contacting the biggest Skoda dealer in Norway - but got the same result. No tracking of versions or which units fit which models.

They could only give me the number of a factory fresh replacement unit based on the car registration number. (£1500!)

Luckily, I found these guys when searching the internet:

http://www.tav-autoverwertung.de/shop/ABS-HYDRAULIC-UNIT-VW-SEAT-SKODA-6Q0614117E-6Q0907379G-BOSCH-0265222006-0265800003-6Q0-614-117-E-6Q0-907-379-G-0-265-222-006-0-265-800-003

They had a list of various ABS versions and compatibility.

Based on this info I have now ordered the newer "E" version (second hand), and will try replacing it in the weekend.
