No they didnt but ive got all the nits off of an RS to make my PD a diesel RS but i wondered if anyone has already done it?

I once saw a yellow diesel on ebay that had been made to look like a vRS. Not sure what they did brakes wise, but they'd done the front bumper, wheels and I think the interior.

Looked like a vRS though but sounds like you're planning on going a bit further. Wouldn't the springs and dampers be different, due to the weights being different? Were you planning on using the vRS setup?

Someone on here has got one, it's a white one, black wheels, somewhere in Eastern Europe, (I think). Still sold over there.

no official diesel rs in the UK was made

I think a better way of wording the question would be "Has anyone made an Octavia diesel look like an Octavia vRS?". Yes a Polish member has.

As obviously you can't turn the standard car into the vRS. It'll be a visual thing.

The vRS body shell is different to the standard shell (reinforcement and additional welding to make the body stiffer). The vRS has the "sport" rear beam (with the thicker integrated ARB). Dampers and springs could obviously be changed to drop the height down to the standard lower vRS height, but you'd need to change the FARB and droplinks too if you want to make a vRS. Discs and calipers would need changing on all four corners. Then you'd need the 20vT AUQ engine with O2J EHA gearbox! Front/Rear bumpers, side indicator lenses, boot lid with spoiler and badges. vRS exhaust too. Carpets, seats, door cards, dash trim, instrument cluster, steering wheel, pedals, gearknob, roof lining, handbrake lever and rear strut braces. Then obviously some 17" spider alloys. Do the standard Octavia's have the same standard window tints as the vRS's too? And the sun-strip on the windscreen. Then you'd need a new VIN (joke), because the VIN tells you if it's a real vRS or not! There are probably loads of other things that I've forgotten too....

If I had a normal Octavia, I might fit the vRS front bumper, because it makes the car look much better, but I wouldn't ever try and call it a vRS. I think we should be keeping the vRS genetics pure personally.

I don't know if the dealer-special runout 'vRX' models came with diesels, or just the 1.6 petrol...

Yeap i think that list about everything ive done! Apart from the VIN of course! And the standsard Octavia shell is the same as the RS apart from the drillings in the rear to take the braces.

Ive put SPAX RSX coilovers on mine but apart from that its exactly the same as ans RS, although quicker!! lol

Oh i did leave the dark greay carpets in mine not that i was too lazy to change them it just looked better with them as opposed to the light ones which get dirty real easy.

how quick danny, sounds interesting!?

Ill put some pics up tomorrow if anyone is interested?

At the moment its on a stage one map I think its was about 197BHP if i remember rightly but the plan is........

Highbreed turbo, FMIC, straight through exhaust with no boxes and then get it remapped again to about 250 or what Jabba can take it to!!!!

And once thats done its getting four wheel drive and them i think that should do it lol

I'm afraid you're incorrect on that one. The RS shell has a lot of RS specific reinforcement and additional welding, which sets it apart from a normal shell.

-There is front suspension strut reinforcement on the RS and 4x4 models only (a reinforcement plate is welded between the inner arch and the bulkhead).

-A-pillar to lower sill additional welding on the RS only.

-B-pillar to roof additional welding on the RS only.

-Additional welding along the flange where the C-pillar meets the lower sill, on the RS body only.

-The area around the rear bumper support is reinforced by additional bolted connections and welded in retaining plates. RS only.

-Additional welding along the C-pillar flange, near to the tops of the inner rear arches. RS only.

-Additional welding in the inner rear wheel arch. RS only.

-Reinforcement plates are welded in the area of the luggage compartment cross member, on the inside and outside of the inner arch. RS only.

These things make the body stiffer, and more responsive. They are only found on the "Sport" body type. You can tell if you have a sport body if the fourth letter of your VIN is "E".

So it's a lot more than just the bolt-on rear strut braces......

Oh ok i didnt know that it was welded like that

But that aside its not going to make a lot of differnce between that shell and a normal shell with the amount of rubber thats in a road cars suspension and how soft the standard suspension is, youd need to have the suspension on rose joints to really get the benifit from that

Haha shut it you slag! :moon:

Get some pictures up Danny. I can't think of many heavily modified diesel Mk1 Octavias about. Most of the action seems to be on the Fabia vRS's.

Yeah ill take some and post them up for tomorrow night

The only thing is i need an RS back box to get the tailtrim off and convert the diesel one! Cant find one though!!

Umm anyone know how to post pics on here!?

Create a photobucket account mate and upload the links through photobucket thats the way i do it havent had any problems doing it that way.

Isnt is easier to drop a diesel 130Tdi lump into a VRs? than try to convert a diesel to vrs?

Nope!

Thought about that but what with the fuel system being different, the wiring loom, its not as easy as you first think!

197 from a stage 1 on a pd130?????

That is either a massive spike or the wrong figure!!!!!!!!!!!

Is stage one a generic map and stage two is custom! not sure which is which!

Anyway i was wrong i dug the paperwork out for the car and its 175, thought it was more than that !

Looks good, what have you done with the exhaust cut out? Or do you still have the non vRS bumper on? I have just thought of another difference though if your beeing really fussy, the speedo/dials are different then a vRS lol

Oh and I think the side repeaters are smoked on the vRS.

The vRS also has chrome door pins.

And technically on a vRS of that age the trim on the inside of the a/b/c pillars and the roof should have the dark not the light headlining but now I'm just being really picky lol lol

Sorry but you did ask for all the differences lol it still looks good though and to the un-trained eye it would look like a vRS.
