Crash damage - help please!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Recently a careless driver was too quick round a blind bend and took out my front spoiler (not too bad, but scratched heavily and hanging off..) and driver's side front wing. It's an insurance job.. I think I need new parts but obviously being a 2003 furby surely I need to source the parts then take it all to a garage, or is there a specialist that can do it all in the Sussex area? Any help greatly appreciated. And yes I'm pi$$ed off but there are so many mental drivers out there, no use getting wound up.

Thanks

Rich

If it's an "insurance job" then the repairer should take care of everything - and the insurance company will potentially dictate who does the repair.

Do you have the details of the other car?

If so just claim from their insurance and it's entirely their job to sort it out including providing a courtesy car.

If you are making a claim from your own insurance as they aren't traceable it's still their job to sort it out.

You only need to get involved in buying parts if you are trying to do it yourself on the cheap

As a result of a court case, they can ask you to use their nominated repairer, but they cannot force you to do so.

If your insureance pass you on to another insureance company who claim to do the repair and then recover the losses from the 3rd other party.. be careful with the hire car details.

It took 14 months for swift to pay up when "Help Hire / Angel Cover" fixed my car. They gave me a rental and then asked Swift to pay £1550, just for the rental.

It almost went to court and it wasn't until I pointed out that the Insignia they gave me had been matched the the Furbys BHP that they agreed an Insignia was a suitable car to rent me.. They had a bee in the bonnet about it being too flash a motor as well as 1 or 2 other small things.
