Engine problem?

Featured Replies

Hi, i bought a mk1 octavia vrs the other day and i need help on a couple of things. When i start the car sometimes it makes a squeal noise, if i drive for a while and stop then start it wont do it? Could this be starter motor??

Also, if i put my foot down in say second, the turbo whistles and pulls great. However, if im in 3rd- 4th and i press the gas it goes...... whoosh...................whoosh .................whoosh (lol!!) if that makes sense? Does anybody know what that could be?

Thanks

1st sounds like the starter motor (mine kind of squeals on start up), second could me the MAF? 2nd Does your temperature gauge sit on 90 or does it wander around occasionally? If so it could be the temp sensor that is dying.

The squeal could just be the fan belt.......check its condition and make sure the auto tensioner is working OK.

Otherwise, check the secondary air pump motor rivets these can fail which causes a noise on start up when cold.

Its at the front of the engine near the oil filter and looks like a heater blower/motor.
