Have a '03 1.6 octavia and when going over slightly rough ground there is a slight knocking noise coming from the front left side of the car.

Is there any obvious explanation for this --suspension ?? and a possible cause for it.

How to get fixed ??

Also on idle - the engine seems to be changing it idle speed --ie -you can feel the slight jumps when holding the wheel on idle. - could this be due to the carbs need cleaning ???

Not sure on the suspension - does sound like something's amiss. Get your dealer to look at it, you should still be under warranty.

The fluttering idle is something which I get too, doesn't seem to be anything untoward...but if you have concerns, again, talk to your dealer and take advantage of the warranty! Though the 1.6 doesn't have carbs...

The knocking suspensions is probably the anti-roll bar end links or bushes. Not a huge job to replace (we've just had the whole ARB replaced on our Fabia for about
