Talk about bad luck," you said it". The glow light came on first, then it went to limp mode, i way coming up to a laybye so pulled straight in. Can't remember whether i turned the engine off or whether it cut out itself. Anyway it wouldn't start again. Spoke to the garage tonight and he went to have a look at the car and it started straight away, so he got one of his lads to take it for a long drive and the same thing happened again. He then got another guy to put it on a computer. At it came up with UNKNOWN FAULT, he didn't give me the code coz he couldn't remember it. Told me he was going to get another guy to put it on a "Bosch System" tomorrow to see if he can get to the fault, failing that he said he would take it to the Skoda garage, for them to check the fault.

I didn't want to risk going all the way to Ben as i was two hours away and because my garage had just done the cambelt two days previously it needed to go back there.

Once this is sorted(i hope) i will be phoning Ben straight away.

Bad luck. Get them to give you a print out from Bosch diagnostics, as that will display the same codes as VCDS reports. Once you have those you can look on Ross-Tech's site for possible reasons. Fault codes often won't tell you the whole story or fully explain a situation, but they're certainly helpful in pointing you in the right direction.

Well it could get really bad now. He has now put it on a BOSCH system and its showing fault code P1040 and P2146. He has told me that it could be one of the Injectors, but the car now has to go to a skoda garage for them to put on the vag. Its going on Monday so as a matter of interest I phone another skoda dealer to see what the prices of injectors are was quoted £570 :o each. I then managed to speak to someone quite knowledgable, and he couldn't understand an injector packing in with only 48000 on the clockand the car only being four years old. He also told me that he was aware that it is a common problem for the wiring loom to get brittle and damage from the heat under the rocker cover.

On looking at the code i'm told it could well be either or both :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I hope it's only the wiring loom. Gonna be a long wait till Monday :sweat:
