Having read about all the delays people were having to endure upon ordering diesel Octavias, I was rather disappointed, as I was looking forward to ordering my 10th new Octavia! Yes as my name says, I really do love these Octavias.

But never the less I shopped around to get the best deal local to me, and placed an order for a new L&K 2.0 CR diesel estate, with extra options of front parking sensors, sunset glass, heated seats front and back and the obligatory spare wheel, with Witham Skoda, down in Hersham, Surrey, on 06/12/10. I told them I was looking for a March 1st delivery if possible, but was told very unlikely as they warned me of long delays and to expect delivery April/May.

Well its actually my birthday today, and got a lovely phone call from Geoff at Witham Skoda, who rang today to tell me that my car has just been built!!!!!! and I should be able have it for 1st March on an 11 plate

Came totally out of the blue, as I had not even been given an estimated build date, I basically resigned myself to a long wait, and kept an eye on this forum to hear of other peoples woe in hearing their build weeks were put back or delayed yet again.

Think you were lucky to get a cancelled order then that happened to match the spec you ordered! Just make sure that you check everything that is on there that you ordered!

That's good advice. My order went in 8 weeks ago and I was given an approximate eta of early May (this length of time for a diesel Skoda seems average in Australia). That was changed the other day to "in build status but no eta". The trouble is that build status doesn't necessarily mean that its actually being built, just that the order is now in the ready to build que . . .

Congratulations on the ordering of your 10th Octy, and still under 40 years old.

Some record, I don't think many could beat that !!!!!!!!!!

Such brand loyalty should surely warrant some form of recognition from SUK.

Obversely, during that time, you probably have had many and varied models of the Octy mark

and it would be interesting to hear of your different purchases.

The woes and joys of each and ever model would also be a useful guild to any would be purchaser.

What went wrong and what tails are there related to the various cars.

Ordered my vRS Estate in November with end of March delivery, it arrived last Monday and I am picking it up Tuesday. Dealer thinks it was because it was an estate.

Prolly a cancelled order or maybe a rejected car just kidding, or am I??? :S

Had an update from Skoda UK today, and my L&K has arrived at Emden, and is currently waiting to be allocated to a ship

Spoke to the dealer regarding whether it was a cancelled order that just happened to match my spec, but he claimed it was highly unlikely as I had down graded from the standard full leather to half leather and alcantara, and yet still ordered the heated rear seats as well. Apparently, this was an unusual combination as most people only order the heated rear seats if they have the full leather. Not to mention the fact that they don't actually sell that many L&K's compared to elegances or vrs

I will be using the car as a Minicab/Private hire vehicle down here in Croydon, South London, so at least my passengers will be able to have a hot backside during the next cold snap

Regarding a possible write up on my 9 previous Octavia's, which going thru my records I have covered over 500,000 miles, unfortunately they were all in the boring yet bulletproof 1.9 TDi's, I shall hold fire until the new one arrives, so that I can compare it to the old and then give an in depth review on each one.
