It's underneath the glove box, kinda look upwards with your head in the foot well - there's two thumb screws, undo 'em, pull the foam thing off, slide the catch across & bingo - it drops down...

How's that for a highly technical guide?? :D

perfect description will have to have a look and see how bad it is

A tip place some newspaper underneath when changing the filter I got a pile of dust falling when I changed mine.

What does a pollen filter actually do? Is it worthwile changing mine as i'm not sure its been done in its lifetime (2006)?

Thanks, Lee

It filters pollen ;)

It keeps the levels of dust being blown into the cabin much lower, but also does a very useful job of stopping the aircon evaporator getting clogged up with muck. Whereas a traditional car heater could stand a constant steam of dust being blown through it without too much problem, aircon systems tend to run quite moist so any dust allowed into them will stick and clog the whole thing up very quickly. The pollen filter helps to prevent this happening.

Thanks Nick, i've just ordered one. Sounds easy enought to fit

I've just done mine this afternoon.

I couldn't find any trace of it having been done in the service history, and as the manufacture date on the filter I removed was before the car was made I'm pretty sure it was the original.

Not too mucky all things considered - main content seemed to be small leaves on the 'inward facing' side of the filter, the other side was free of 'stuff' which I guess proves that it does its job...

That said, the new filter is white - if the original was then actually it is pretty dirty!

It is a very easy job to do - took me no more than 10 minutes. Replacement filter is a genuine Skoda part # 1K0819644B, £8.99 from Rainworth Skoda via ebay.
