Superb II Door lock Problem

Featured Replies

I have had a problem for the last few days now with my Drivers side Front door lock.

During the cold weather it seemed very rough while opening the door and then one morning when i tried to get in the door would not open at all.

The other doors are all fine, the drivers door will open from the inside. So i took the door card off and got access to the inside of the door. I could feel that the wire running from the door handle to the locking mechanism is moving when i pull the handle. It is pulling a little lever down on one side of the mechanism but it not opening. The wire running form the interior door handle is working fine.

The car has run out of warranty by 15 days now, i was informed when i brought the car to the local dealers that they would need to replace the mechanism and charge 2-3 hours labour @ £62.00 PerHour + VAT @20% so im looking at around £300 pound to fix this.

Not being happy with skoda not working with me about resolving this at the time when i was only four days out of warranty i am very dissapointed in them and will be selling the car in May.

In the mean time i need to know is there anyone else that has had or heard of similar problems and how to go about fixing or replacing this part.

Thankyou in anticipation.

I would suggest that you quote the Sale of Goods Act and point out that, if the problem can be shown to be as a result of a manufacturing fault, Skoda (or actually the dealer you bought the car from) are legally obliged to do the repair. This has worked fine with an out of warranty issue on a Samsung TV and I cannot see why it shouldn't work on a car.
