Snow Monster Rolling Road Results

Featured Replies

Would being a DSG and 4x4 affect the results much?

Mike

you will have more transmission losses on the 4x4. so calculations a bit different from 2wd to get wheel figures. it might be worth giving Ben a phone to discuss you results vs octygone incase there is an issue?

Here is my result for a dead standard 140 DSG:

145 HP at 2665 rpm

230 lb/ft @ 2665 rpm

Everybody is dissapointed by the 140 results but have you guys read how much the 110 put out???.

155bhp!!!

Erm that is AFTER the remap! Before the remap it was 121...

I was really hoping for the same 105 to 120 "upgrade" as you get on the 1,2. But still I have 145 which is 5 more than I paid for! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Interesting graph Johann, but what about the power and torque below 2500 rpm? You don't appear to have any below 2000rpm,or is that just a quirk of AMD's rolling road? :wonder:

Mike's looks the same (albeit being higher at the top!). I don't know how it works! But every car tested had a graph like that.

I have just spent a while talking to Ben.

I am not worried about the map. When I took Johann out for a quick spin he could tell the differenceemoticon-0100-smile.gif

As has been posted above, I will be putting Elsie on another rolling road in the not too distant future.

I am working with Ben on this, at the moment I don't think there is an issue with the map.

I know from experience that DSG's are extremely difficult to put on a RR. My previous standard DSG PD140 Octavia did one run at over 190bhp!

In the mean time I will keep on enjoying the extra torque that I know is there - it will run in 4,5 & 6 at a round 1200rpm, which means that the engine & gearbox have learnt the extra torque. As I have stated elsewhere, around town, the car is between 3 & 5 mpg better. Not done any really long motorway journey's yet with the remap to check high speed - 70mph fuel consumption yet, but to be honest, none of the Yeti's seem to be very good when you go over the UK maximum.

It's the way they test them.

Johann, I suspect you have, as I am certain that mine is not as low as the figures suggested.

Didn't mine feel much faster?

It sure did! Pity we did not get a chance to do a 0-60 sprint side by side... Need to find an empty dual carriageway somewhere! emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

good stuff mate, glad you both think all is ok. wasnt being negative when suggesting there might be an issue. i know Shark does great remaps and is who i will be going to just thought i t might be worth a check :)

as you say others notice the power/torque hike so rollers may just have it wong. was your octy shark mapped? :)

was your octy shark mapped? :)

Nope. Just standard. Thats why 190+bhp was sillyemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Which is one of the reasons I'm taking the RR figures with a pinch of salt.

I would highly recommend Ben at Shark Performance.

Mike

Glad you and Ben are Happy,

I know that dsg's are difficult to run,

Maybe when the next JKM RR Day is on have a run on them as they always seem to be good.

Well aware of that, just saying that the jump from 110 is HUUUGE, by the sounds of it the remap is modest too, to preserve the clutch, imagine what a clutch upgrade would do :giggle:

If i was back in the uk now a 110 tdi would be on my shopping list as its cheaper to buy and insure (not going into that grey area).

Still waiting for this new siemens ECU to be unlocked, theres a couple of thousand blokes in the USA in the same boat with their golf gti's as the 2011 US model shares the same ECU.

Mike

Hopefully this should be my graph
