hi all[,could anyone tell me how to replace bushes on my front lower suspension lower arms,my car is a mk1 octavia 51 plate,thanks for any help :thumbup:

Just change the arms. Did mine in an hour. Cost me £26 a side for pattern parts from a motor factor including bottom ball joints. Dead easy to do - jack car up and on axle stands. Remove bottom ball joint bolt, remove front and rear bolts, remove lower arm and re-fit in reverse.

dont bother with bushes- too much sweat and stress :( - lower arms are cheap enough from the local motor factor ;)

Yeah just change the arms

But make sure you go for the more expesive ones if they give you a choice like Euro and GSF do!

The more expensive ones are OEM spec and even made by the same people who make them for VW etc the cheaper ones arent too hot

Thought id go for a cheap set and ended up changing them again after six months as the rear bushes split

u burn the old ones out the big ones u use a vise and the smaller ones just grease and slide in..Car feels tight far better than standard

at the end of the day i think it boils down to what you want them for- if your going for the high performance/handling side of things, then yeh- polybush is probably the way to go- but you would benefit from replacing every bush on the car with poly's- be prepared for some very unpleasant smoke if your gonna burn them out- do it outside!..lol

if your thinking more of the 'keep it stock' as long as its got an mot etc... then factor's lower arms are probably the way to go?

personaly ive gone with the lower arm side of things- mines a diesel, my main priorities are low fuel consumption and the ability to overtake when i hit the loud pedal :) but different people want different things from thier cars..

Ya BUT you can do poly bushes cheaper than doing arms in the same time...and not have to worry about doing them again in 6 mths cause of our fine roads we have here!!! :thumbdown: I did mine the other day and it really was easy I used a little propane torch and they came out easy,ya it don't smell nice but god what a difference in the car.... :thumbup: To each his own but for me why keep replacing them just do it right the first time!!!!

polyurethane- the same stuff they make skateboard wheels from (as far as im aware) quite a hard plastic thats self lubricating..- good stuff, although dosnt absorb as much 'shock' as rubber and some people have complained that it transfers vibration (more in engine mount applications) but it deforms less under load, and things kinda stay where you want them to suspension wise.. :)

I was being a smart*** dude I know what they are... :rofl::rofl: Much better than tt bushes and you get no vibration at all but car feels like new and responds really good under load...I have done all mine and engine mount to got vibration from that but well worth it..
