Anyone use acronis for awkward discs ? As in unreadable etc If so how do you find it ??

Got a disk with 3 partitons 2 work one doesn't I'm guessing it's corupt.

Trying Gparted atm not having muich luck even getting it to run chkdsk

Got a little further with this today and it the MBR is bad.

It's a Advent laptop drive, the recovery section and the system partitons are both good and working.

Trouble being I don't want to wipe all three partions as the recovery section is needed for the reinstall

It seems that when I use a windows disk the machine throws a wobbler as the drive is sending it mental :(

why not DD the various disks to images, then dd back the ones you want to keep after a full restore?

Just about to mash the whole drive to one partiton and see if that resurects it for windows to go on, just been told the photos arn't that important so kill the lot :yes:
