5mm spacers with standard wheel bolts?

Featured Replies

anyone running 5mm spacers with standard bolts, always been abit dubious of spacers, can you get 5mm longer wheel bolts??

I *think* jason runs standard wheel bolts on a very low spacer. Might only be 3mm tho to clear his brakes

Matt

You can cut down a longer wheel bolt to whatever size you want. Personally on a 27mm wheel bolts I wouldn't risk a 5mm spacer especially as it won't be hub centric.

Always get longer wheel bolts!

you can get them from various wheel and tyre places off ebay. Normally just over £1 each or so.

I do, but if I had any doubts about the amount of "bite" the bolts are still getting, I would switch to longer ones, 3mm is roughly 2 turns less on a bolt which turns about 12 to 14 times normally. I have definitely had no issues of any kind and personally am happy using my standard bolts (I am using tapered ones though, if that makes a difference)

10 maybe, my 10mm spacers I turned down on a lathe from 15s.
