I've got an Autel Maxiscan MS509 EOBD scantool. It's not the same as the 405 I know, but it's very easy to use and really good.

Hi. Which seller did you buy from? There seem to be quite a few and I'm looking at buying one as well. Any ideas if this will work on my 2005 Mk2 Octy aswell as the wifes 2001 Fabia and Mates 2002 Fabia? All Diesels.

Or the 509 or 609?? Which should I get. the more I read the more confused I get. I have a laptop which is very old and slow and only has USB1!!! so no good with VCDS I'm afraid.

Don't need to do much coding but would like to check flow rates etc from my injectors. I think I might have a faulty unit at higher revs and just want to see if i can do any diagnostics over different driving conditions etc.

had time to try out my new gadget this afternoon..........pluged it into my wifes low mileage year 2000 golf.....very easy to use...i was`nt expecting any faults as car is like new,23,000 miles bearly run in.....and no faults detected....

i also plugged it into my skoda pick-up....i have a problem with this at the moment,i`ve fitted a new ecu but i hav`nt yet re-initialize the immobilser (tommrow hopfully) so it dos`nt start, the maxiscan connected in seconds and found one fault,it gives you the code and a breif description in this case........p1570----engine start blocked by immobilizer.....so no surpises there then

this is a cheap basic tool which i did`nt think i would like....iam surprised at the quality, ease of use and the speed in connected with the car

so would i reconmend to a freind, this is the first time i`ve used one of these and have nothing to compare it with, but yes i would reconmend....the people i purchased from come reconmended as well.....cut-price-deals....ebay listing number 300519268939

ordered on thursday delivered on saturday....very good....

Thanks. Very useful info. Might just get one myself next week.

Bought a MaxiScan MS509 from ebay during christmas for a crimbo present for the car (silly I know, but has to be done!).

I must admit, I'm new to all this OBD stuff, so when I linked it up to the PC to update the software, I was surprised at how easy and quick it was to use. It's slightly more expensive then the 405, but I thought I'd buy the best one I could at the time.

I'm also impressed with what it can read and clear. Sevral readings have been saved on the unit and copied to the PC for evaluation and it's a doddle, even with the more technical details.

Overall, very impressed!! Bought from super-trade-direct for £59.95 with £6.75 postage via special delivery! Took a while to get to me due to bad weather at the time, but otherwise very good seller!! And I feel at a good price!!

Just my 10 pennies worth.

a good 10 pennies worth.......it looks like the 509 could be a better buy than the 405...i`am happy with the 405.. great for the price...the more i understand about dianostics, the more i want to know,so will probably upgrade.......

i wonder how easy vag com is to use for a beginger....can you teach yourself ?
