I have a Fabia 3 1.9 diesel just coming up to 3 years old.

My service book states the cambelt should be changed at 120,000km (approx 75,000 miles) but it does not state a period of elapsed time. When should the cambelt be changed on my car and what is the approx cost? Thank you.

There is now different advice given on this subject by Skoda Uk to the advice shown in your service manual. The change advice happened in 2008 as far as I recall. This means your cambelt should be changed every 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, I would still check with your dealer to confirm this hasn't changed yet again.

If I remember rightly when I had my 1.9 Tdi PD they reckoned you should ignore the recommended period and get it done every 45,000mls or 4 years. It was also strongly advised to change the plastc impellered waterpump at the same time as they could go brittle, break and let you down. My 1.2 12v doesnt have a belt but I still wonder do I need to chage the water pump on these. Hopefully someone may have all of this information and enlighten members??
