Courtesy Light Stays On

Featured Replies

Can anybody please help? The coutesy light on my wife's new Yeti Elegance keeps staying on; sometimes when we drive in the car; but more worryingly when we have locked and left it. I have looked for a plung-type switch in the drivers door, but it seems that the Yeti is more sophisticated than that! I have turned the interior switch to off for now to prevent a flat battery, but this is obviously not a long term solution. My nearest dealer is 25 miles away.

Its supposed to stay on for a bit, part of the convenience function that can be set up on the MFD.

If it never goes out, sounds like a dealer visit.

To risk pointing out the obvious, there are 3 settings, off always on and on when door open.

The light should turn off automatically after a certain period of time so stop it draining the battery, even if left on and the car locked (or unlocked as I discovered recently). I frequently leave a reading light on when filling in my mileage log. I realise I left it on, as when I come back to the car, the reading light turns on.

If it is not doing this then I think a dealer visit is called for.

You don't say which light - front or rear. If front check both the centre switch - should be in the "flat middle position" and the two side switches - should be pushed in. There is a 10 minute timer on all the interior lights which will switch them off if left on accidentally.

It's the front lights and the switch is in the middle position. I know that I can switch the ligihts off with this three position switch. I noticed that the lights remained on when I had driven some distance yesterday morning and I switched them off using the three position switch. When I parked (in Norwich) I reset the switch and all seemed well...the lights went out when I locked the car. When I returned home and parked on my driveway the lights remained on for over five minutes and I had to change the switch again. It seems like an intermittent fault and, as suggested, one for the dealer to look at. I was just hoping that it was a sticking switch that I could access. Many thanks everyone.

Intermittent electrical gremlins are the worst kind to find. Grrr. Good luck.

Hi there

Having just taken delivery of a new yeti elegance in the last week , i too seem to have the same problem with this light . It just does not want to go off after the time limit and i have now switched to the off position for now , seems to be a bit of a growing problem in this model i think.

Sorry to be pedantic, but how can it be a "growing problem" when only 2 people have reported it?

1 up to 2, thats a 100% increase!!!! :o

That make two of us!!! Should start a new post "Pedantic Yeti Owners".

That's a racist comment. If "welsh"= common sense then I agree.

Arh hah, a Welshman who could swim home!!

1 up to 2, thats a 100% increase!!!! :o

Me too so make that 3 - that's only a 50% increase on 2 so at least the rate of growth of the problem is slowing down! :dull:

So that is now 3 out of approx 2500 Yeti's in the UK (or what ever the figure is)!

Whilst I am not saying it isn't a problem TO YOU, what it doesn't appear to be is a general problem.

This Forum is like every other one I inhabit, in that in general all you hear about are the problems, but the happy and contented owner doesn't very often post that info. I hope you get it sorted out.

Same here. New Yeti Elegance. Neither the front nor the rear lights go off when I m driving, even though the rocker switch is in the middle, correct position.  Took it to the garage last week, and hey presto, it worked for the mechanic;  A couple of hours later, back to the same problem !

Otherwise, hey, I love my Yeti

Except for the obscure manual.....

Somebody reported this on Yeti Classic and it turned out to be tailgate not shut properly - appeared shut but display in MFD showed it was open.

I've been caught out a few times and found that leaving drivers door open and giving the tailgate a good slam shut (it's all about air pressure leaving the door open) works.

The tailgate on my FL yeti requires a much heavier push to close than my previous classic.

As above, MFD will indicate which door, or if boot is not closed causing interior light to illuminate.

It's easy to miss the boot open symbol as it's just the glass in the rear hatch of the pictogram that gets coloured in.

Explains why when the car is taken in the mechanics don't find a problem since they know the symbol and then close the boot properly.

Crickey, thanks for those speedy replies.  I shall try that as soon as I am awake  :=)

Yup.  Thats what it was, the boot wasnt closed.

Now I have fiddled with so many buttons, the wing mirrors dont close when I lock the car.  They are supposed to open and close automatically. I am sure we have changed something somewhere.....

But in any case, thank you again for the advice on the boot ! :giggle:
