Forge Split R Questions

Featured Replies

Hi people!

Im looking into getting a Forge Split R Dump Valve for my Octavia vRS mk1.

Ive heard people havin problems "setting them up" and wondered what it is they mean??

Its completely standard engine wise and was wondering what i would have to do to set it up? Spring colour is another thing ive seen, not sure what to do.

Cheers

Simple answer......don't bother!

Buy the 007 if you want a named (it's far better and cheaper than the split r) one or like a few of us get the compbrake (cheaper still) and just as good as the forge IMO.

I tried the split r and it was to quiet, took an age and was a faff to set up. Got rid and fitted a 007.

This is just my opinion and others will probably have different views.

ive one fitted on mine, easy to fit and found it didnt need setting up,performs very well, but you need a cai of some form,as you will barely hear it on a standard engine,i can't understand why these always get a slating??

Yeah think the CAI will come in few months saving really. Would a pipercross panel filter make it bit louder?

Cheers

only if you drill the airbox,a panel filter will make no more noise than a standard one.

When I swapped out the standard paper filter for a K&N panel filter, there was definitely more induction noise. I could suddenly hear the DV operating, when with the paper filter I never heard it. It's the fact that the paper filter is much deeper and there's more of it, making it suppress the noise more effectively. It's by no means loud, just loud enough that the driver can listen for it.

I also use a Forge 007PA with a yellow spring, and it's been faultless over the 3+ years I've had it.

On mine its louder with the windows shut lol

In fact I remember posting up in noob days asking why sometimes the dv made a noise and other times it was quiet, answer .....all down to the window being open lol
