iam having to replace the ecu on my felicia 1.3 mpi pick-up....and am looking for someone with vag com to re-initiaize the immo unit to get it running again......iam happy to meet any expenses and also a few quids for your trouble

iam in high wycombe south bucks.....many thanks paul

Which ECU are you replacing?

If it's the engine ecu I'm 99% sure they aren't tied in through the immobiliser.

its the engine ecu.......teflon toms helped me out by selling a spare one he had kicking around......hes also been helpful with lots of advice.....including how to re-initialize the immobiliser......

With the Felicia you go into the engine ECU, adaptation channel 00 and erase the learned values. You may need to adapt the throttle body afterwards.

^^ not quite...

it's immo 25, adaption 10, channel 0, read then write, swtich ignition off then on again... there's no need to go into the engine section at all really

good morning.i`ve fitted the new ecu this morning and i now have a pulse on both the grey wire and the green wire. ...as teflon tom has said i will now have to re-initialize the immobilser unit to get it running....when i turn the key it runs for 2 seconds and then cuts out....it did run smoothly in that short time....anybody local with vag-com who can re set the immo for me ?.....elsewhere on this post helpfull teflon tom has listed the sequence to do this....top man

phoned a local guy who i`ve used before and h`es coming tommrow....will update then.....

oh, paul i've just remembered something, if you've tried to start the engine with the mismatched immo unit there will be a fault code stored in the immo (25) module which will be 'key not authorised' plus in the engine module (01) it will have a 'engine start blocked by immobilizer' fault showing, i can't remember for certain on the siemens ecu but i think you need to clear these faults before you can begin

hi tom....thanks for the extra info...i`ve bought myself a autel maxiscan and tryed it out on the pick-up....it detected the fault.....p1570..engine start blocked by immobilizer....but not `key not authorised`fault....i`ll do another scan this morning now that ive read the instructions :giggle:

i`ve got a local guy i`ve used before coming today with his vag-com ,i`ll print this post for him....update later today

performed another scan this morning with the maxscan 405.....fault code....p1570...ENGINE START BLOCKED BY IMMOBILIZER... same as yesturday.....then if i page down (see i have read the instructions)i get ...01087....kwp 1281....-155....BASIC SETTING NOT PERFORMED..........SPORADIC IMPLAUSIBLE SIGNAL........no p number this time.....would this be the.....KEY NOT AUTHORISED.....fault that teflon tom has mentioned.............

had the man with vag-com come down this morning...he used a LAUNCH,SMART BOX ....says he has re-initialized the immobolizer, but he cant match the new ecu without the new ecu code, has tryed to retrive it but the system wont allow....says its a skoda job........have used this guy before and he seams ok....is he out of his depth......

so long as the key and immo unit are already matched (which they are in your case) you don't need the code..

i'd suggest finding somebody with vcds(vag-com) rather than some fancy pantsy nancy none-so-clever box of tricks

on the way home today popped into a local non franchised vw garage, asked them if they could re-initialize the immobilizer after i had re-placed the ecu...."sorry its the only thing we cant do"..... :wonder: .....same thing happened in the vw dealership, said they could`nt do audi either :wonder: both said they use vag-com........if i cant find a helpful brisky with vcds who can do the work for me in exchange for some greenbacks i might have to take it to a skoda dealer, this would mean fitting the old ecu and limping there on two cylinders

have a look in the thread which is pinned at the top of this diagnostics section, there i an owners list of folks with vcds, there's bound to be somebody near you, try dropping them a pm to ask if they will pop over in exchange for some beer vouchers

yes...bit of a shame...i would rather give my money to a brisky rather than a main dealer....i might had got a better responce if i could take the car to them rather than the other way round....iam hoping that i can watch them do it to see what i can learn......and parhaps invest in vag-com myself.......gas bill this morning so it will have to wait a little while.....

I'd have done it if you'd come down to Devon. :D

if you wanted to do vcds (vag-com) the legit way... like everybody on here :giggle: ... than you could get away with using the vcds-lite version and use a £10 ebay cable, felicia'a and pickups only use the old school kwp1280 protocol so you won't need the all- singing new-fangled shizzle version....

i need to stop using hyphens when i type

   good news......THE PICK UP LIVES AGAIN.......my local skoda dealer had the pick-up today to re-initalize the immo....true to there word they sorted it in half a hour and charged me £57.....i put the old ecu on so i could drive it to the dealer,on two cylinders (the reason for the change)but was still able to hit 50 mph on the flat, first gear up one hill but it did get me there....they used `vag cas` £13 000 worth .....adding that its the only set-up that will do this job along with key coding and radio code... :wonder: my thanks to all that have helped.....mot soon, fingers crossed.....next decent day weather wise i`ll take some pictures.....
