Upgrading to a MKII

Featured Replies

I had a Mk 1 vRS and now have a Mk 2 1.8 TSi. (Both manual). The TSi feels way better than the Mk. 1 vRS did (and that was good.)

Unless you want the higher power from the vRS, I'd suggest road testing a 1.8 TSi first. Also it is comparatively economical, for a petrol engine with that power. Can easily get mid 40's mpg on a decent run.

I have heard so many good things about that 1.8 TSi unit, and whilst it does give you the performance and some economy, there is something about "the look" of a vRS that made me sway that way instead.

I think a lot of people worked that out about 5 or more years ago, but welcome along anyway!

I've had a MK1 VRS for about 5 years now and am upgrading to a MK2.

Was talking about other motorists in general.

When I took mine in for its minor repairs today and chatted to the owner of the repair company, he said "Well, it's an Audi really!!"

Well I guess he wasn't wrong really but I'd rather people liked them for being a Skoda. I personally think it's great having a car that not too many people like. How many people suddenly decide to speed up and retake you when they realise they have been overtaken by a Skoda, I think it's hilarious. There are still a lot of people that just cannot see the car behind that Skoda badge, we are the lucky ones because you get a lot of car for not very much cash compared to an Audi or VW.
