Sill protectors

Featured Replies

My Octy Scout has sill protectors as standard and I'm thinking I'll want them on the SM when it arrives. From the Skoda Shop it appears you can get a plain black plastic set (which I think will go well with my Musci paintwork, better than stainless steel) for about 40 euros, but I notice they also offer a fitting template for sale separately. Does anyone know if this is necessary? I would have thought it was fairly obvious where to fit the protectors on the sills.

Any advice/experience/comments welcome as I'd like to get these ordered in the next week.

I have the stainless ones fitted by Allams before delivery, along with the decorative bumper trim. There are a few threads on here about these same items - believe FocusZetec has some black ones.

This topic has been covered before and the consensus of opinion was that the template kit is not necessary since fitting without it caused no problems.

Apart from the official Skoda chrome ones :-

There are also these limited edition 'Footprint' ones from SuperSkoda :-

Thanks for this. I have ordered the all-black protectors from the Skoda shop and will trust to my eyes to fit them!

Tried them out in the showroom and not needed, so didn't buy them.

Well, I have often found in the past that this is an area of the car that can suffer scratches and chips, especially if young children (or older people) are clambering aboard in a less athletic manner than those in the prime of life might employ! The protectors (at least, the black plastic version) are a reasonably cheap and unobtrusive way of dealing with this.

Sorry, must have been having a senior moment. What I meant to say was that I didn't need the template kit.

Chris.
