Engine Undertray Coming Off

Featured Replies

On the M62 this morning a strong gust of wind caused quite a thump from under the car. When I got to work I saw that the plastic engine under-tray was flapping down. Has anyone else experienced this? (I now use cable ties to secure it after the attaching screws kept coming out - dread to think of what punctures they might have caused!).

Mine did this on my Polo! It was held on with cable ties and screws put in from the engine bay somehow. :wonder:

Think the garage drilled them out for the oil change, and the replacements failed the other day. Like yours - it's now bodged carefully attached via cable ties to the ARB.

Mine was hanging off at one point because it had cracked with it being so low so I just took it off as it's not really needed anyways

Some of the smaller roads near us tend to flood at times. I guess the under-tray helps keep water from soaking the lower parts of the engine.
