What To Check When I See My New Vrs ?

Featured Replies

My dealer has told me my new Fabia vRS has arrived

I will obviously check the spec is correct - ie its a black one :giggle:

I wondered , after hearing about the missing/badly fitted passenger side window seal on a few cars , if there are

any other things I should look out for ?

John

look out for damage... badly fitting things can be easily fixed under warrenty with a trip back to the dealer, if it has a scratch you didn't notice on collection ect, you can't then go back, they will simply say "it wasn't us.."

I went over mine carefilly when I picked it up today.......

Make sure it drives in a straight line!

Other than that I don't think there's anything in particular that I noted when I picked mine up. There have been one or two individual reports that things like the passenger airbag isn't activated, the central locking hasn't been programmed to lock the doors once the car is moving etc.

Check for door rattles, seals on windows and all the usual things you'd check on a car when you pick it up. No matter how hard you check though, there'll always be something that you need to go back to the dealer for, or is that just me.....!

Out of interest what is the normal delivery miles on these cars, do they get run for a few miles at the factory or just as part of the dealer PDI ??

mine had 8 miles on her.

11 on mine when collected.

Make sure you get a MDI cable of the right variant. I'm still waiting for a USB version after 3 weeks. No problem if you need the I-pod version they have loads on stock at Skoda even in USB part numbers

I already have the USB version so I got the i-pod one , as you said they seem to have loads.

I needed to go back to get the auto loocking activated. (It has to be done at the dealers) it took about 2 minutes, and that included the chap driving the car round to the garage and back...

5 miles on mine when I got it.

Did you guys get an MDI cable free? I had to buy a USB one.

Never got any cable free, had to buy both my iPod and USB cable from eBay.

I've just ordered the USB one..... Mine was pre registered and only had 14 miles on! :)

Eh the cable is listed as part of the included equipment in the price list.

A discussion I'm currently having with my dealer is why they think I should be paying for something that is listed as being included in the basic specification of the car.

Correct.

I had this discussion too, but got nowhere.

Oh well, not to worry.

Somewhere else in the forum I did read of someone having the "discussion" with Skoda customer services direct - who then organised a free one for them - worth a try ?

I'm sure Skoda customer services would sort it out for you, they seem pretty helpful generally.

I plan on making sure the dealer includes a cable for me when I collect the car tho -wouldn't setle for paying extra for a bit of equipment that is listed in the brochure as being standard.... :wonder:

My vRS is also at the dealer awaiting collection, arrived last week. Gonna be patient and wait to get it on 1st March with a new '11' plate. Was tempted to collect it straight away but know I would be gutted that I hadn't waited when the plates do change over in a couple of weeks time. :smirk:

You might want to check that as you may well find its already been registered when you collect it as there is a time limit to the VAT free deal from dealer to customer. So you may find waiting for an 11 plate costs you alot.

That would have been me.

Their brochure still states 'with cable' on the MDI option and they didn't argue with organising a free cable for me.

I told them it's false advertising to say it comes with a cable but actually doesn't and that it can't be interpreted any other way. My next move was to contact trading standards but fortunately I didn't have to do that.

You are entitled to a free cable, it's as simple as that. Until they change their literature then they can't argue against what they clearly state in their brochure.

I know they're only a few quid off fleabay but I'm a man of principle.

When I ask my dealer about the cable he said " fair enough its in the brochure so its included in the car price".

Dealers have been told to register vehicles as soon as possible - within 2 weeks of arriving at the UK port.

Nope, there is no issue with this. The car has arrived at the dealer but is currently unregistered. The dealer will be getting their allocation of '11' plate registrations to use on new motors in the next week or so. When the list arrives dealer will let me know so I can pick the letters on it that I fancy (from the limited list allocated to the dealer). The car will then be registered with DVLA on this plate and I can pick car up on 1st March B) . Obviously I won't be able to colect it before this date as it wouldn't be legal to drive it on the road before 1st March :giggle: .

The dealer is totally fine with this, I've already paid deposit and been sent invoice for 'VAT-free' price. Anyhow I think the VAT-free deal runs until end of March (and applies to orders taken before this date)?

Wanted the car now but know it will be nice to have on the new plate and also worth a couple hundred quid more come trade-in time...
