Picked Octy Up Today, A Few Questions!

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I picked up a 2005 Octavia Ambiente today from a main dealer, so far I love it. But have a few questions.

Firstly it has Maxidot, and there doesn't appear to be many setting on it. Not like some listed in the FAQs. On going onto vehicle status it comes up as 'No Entry', is this right?

Also I'd like the doors too lock when moving off, can this be done via Maxidot? Or is a VAGCOM job?

Finally tyres, although they're well above the legal limit the road roar is quite pronounced. And it has Goodrichs on the front and Falkens on the rear, I am the kind of person who likes the same brand of tyres all round, so can anyone recommend decent wearing tyres that are quiet for standard Octy steel wheels.

Thanks

Craig

I seem to recall that I got a similar message trying to go into Vehicle Status, but someone else may be able to confirm that.

I had a 2005 L&K and maxidot didn't give the option for auto locking the doors after moving off. Newer ones do, but I think you'll have to resort to VCDS/Vag-com

The option to auto lock the doors is under "anti-hijack" or something like that I think. On the newer maxidots it is simply under a "doors" menu I think. It should be in the maxidot though, unless they changed maxidot between 05 and 08.

There will be fewer menu options than on some of the FAQ's because it will only display the options your car has. So with an Ambiente with a standard spec otherwise, you won't get the same options you would get if you had, say, an L&K on standard spec.

You'll need to activate settings like that first in VCDS, then stuff should appear in the Maxidot menu. That's how it's worked for me - previously an MY06 and then this current one, an MY05.

Stuff like leaving/coming home lights - they won't be visible in the menu, until you activate the setting in VCDS. Then once that's done the first time, you can control it all you like with Maxidot.

The newer FL cars get a lot more options in there though, as they've refined and improved the process I suppose. That's progress for you

Give me a shout if you need a hand with coding as you look fairly local. Drop me a PM.

Thanks Wardy, that'd be great.

Where abouts are you? I'm in Irlam in South West Manchester.
