Alloy Wheel Dust Shields

Featured Replies

Anyone tried these:

http://www.kleenwheels.co.uk/

or ones like them? I read somewhere that certain manufacturers warn against them 'cos they impede brake cooling. I'm fed up with brake dust and road salt attacking my alloys and thought about trying them...

Presumably the Golf or Audi 16" ones should fit. Any views?

Dont use them what ever you do. That is unless you really like blue brake discs.

Sorry, I'm being stoopid, but how to they supposed to work

Looks like they just put a shield between the wheel and the disks. I suppose Ross's comment about blue disks refers to overheating. Personally, I like to be able to keep an eye on my disks.

ive heard of over heating and warped discs

With them on I wouldnt be able to see this beautiful site everyday

I had the 312mm calipers proffesionally sprayed and fitted by some chap by the name of Mr Clarke... But thats all I am saying ;):D

Nice looking brake discs.

The oem brake pads tend to leave a lot of brake dust, very quickly. A few member here have in the past tried EBC greenstuff pads, but although these leave little dust and what they leave is easily cleaned, they were not very good and tended to fade quickly.

I thought so. I can pick up that new car smell here :)

I always double-take when that pic's posted Ross - makes your vRS look like it's British Racing Green!

And have I got my wires crossed? I thought you need a 17" rim for clearance, if you were fitting the 312mm upgrade? I must have got that wrong in my head...

312mm upgrade fits fine under the standard alloys... Like mine

Ross has brembo's which require 17's to be fitted for clearance... I believe are 323mm or something like that

Ah right, that'll be where I'm getting confused then. Which disc/pad combo did you go for walkie? They look great, fill the void nicely :D

Cheers

That will be the reflection of my Skoda green garage door then :)

And Walkie is right, 312mm brakes go under 16" wheels and mine are 323mm.

Went for EBC Turbogroove disks and EBC Greenstuff pads... Very impressed with the results, had them fitted properly also ;)
