Why is my VRS so harsh

Featured Replies

Can anyone suggest why my vrs feels so harsh at the back end? I have the tyre wear issue (sawtoothing) and I think this is causing a fair degree of vibration too, but the car feels really crashy. It has been like this for a while, but the springs and dampers are ok and the bushes seem to be fine.

Is it just the bad Dunlops ruining the ride?

Any information would be appreciated and also if anyone can recommend a decent indie in the Mansfield area I would appreciate it. Went to Jabba for cambelt and water pump change but can't justify the journey really for a basic service. (70k). They were excellent though,

tyre pressures ok? could be the rear beam bushes

Yeah, tyre pressures are fine. Car has done 69k on 06 plate so not even that old really. Thanks

At 70k miles the rear dampers will be somewhat worn. They may not be leaking, but their damping capabilities will be reduced. Worn damplers can give a crashy ride and a usual symptom is that you can feel small ridges in the road.

Rear dampers for the Octavia are not too expensive and pretty easy to swap out.

Thanks for that mate. I appreciate it.

If you are after a good indie garage and dont mind travelling to Notts. Geoff Bloor Garages near to the Notts Forest Football Ground is very good. He is very reasonable and his workshop is immaculate. What he does not know about cars/ turbo charged cars isnt worth knowing, as he builds hybrid cars and used to be a Turbo Technics dealer. His number is 01159 821803

I've used JBS in Chesterfield. A VW group tuning and servicing specialist. The loan car broke down last time and so I'd be careful if you needed one. Their work on my Passat diesel was to a good standard and reasonable cost.

Thanks, I have used JBS on at least 6 occasions but they don't seem as customer focused as they used to be. Thanks for the Geoff Bloor recommendation, I will check it out, especially as I am a Nottingham Forest season ticket holder!

Anyone any more ideas on the ride side of my post?
