head unit issues

Featured Replies

Now since i've had my head unit everytime i take the key out the unit reset to factory setting

i.e. no radio settings all subs turned off, it taeks a few minutes to set it all back up which has started to get annoying!

can anyone here shed any light onto what i can do to solve this??

head unit is Kenwood KDC - 5047U

Cheers.

I had a similar problem with one of my old Kenwoods once and it was a simple fix.

Now... this might be a bit vague because it was a while ago, but on the loom coming out the back of the HU there were some bullet type connectors, coloured red and yellow.

The problem was that these were connected wrongly, and swapping them around sorted the issue.

Something to do with maintaining a tiny current from the battery to keep the HU's memory i think.

Hope thats of some use.

I'll try and dig out the HU and get some pics to explain better!!

Edit: Heres a pic of how mine looked when i had it in... this is the same HU i had the problem with... this configuration was the correct one to make it work
