leather on vRS

Featured Replies

I had full leather on my previous car - a Mk2 Focus 2.0TDCI Ghia. The leather in my Octavia is MUCH nicer - feels smoother, better quality. Definitely a good idea when you have messy kids too, easier to clean.

Yeah, I've only got the standard half-leather interior, with a 2-yr old son, I'm wondering how feasible it is to get the off-white cloth (suede/alcantara?) sections re-coloured in black, as I can't see them staying clean for much longer!

I had a re-trim for the very reason you are talking about. The Alcantara on my seats were looking very grubby and it was starting to break down, the car was full of a white dust.

Best thing I've ever spent money on, apart from buying the Octavia in the first place

Just to add, the cost of replacing all the white bits is as expencive as a re-trim

Thanks for all the posts chaps.

I was seriously considering the leather option in a potential vRS purchase later this month.

Then I was put off a little bit, but after reading a few more opinions from people who have them I think I'll probably still get them.

Dealer says it's really worth getting the heated option at around £200 as they are cold in the winter - yer I know, he's a dealer.

Worth getting them heated?

i have heated leather in my vrs

i dont know if it is 100% leather but it certainly looks good so i am not too concerned.

re heaters - do it - i wouldnt be without mine

they take a while to heat up, longer than my vectra sri did

but once warm they are superb

Get them as clean as you can with upholstery cleaner, then get some Scotchguard or equivalent. You can often find the trade-only stuff on eBay as it's not available direct to the public (the proper stuff anyway).

Then the light sections will be protected and will repel the dirt. And if anything is spilt or dropped, it wipes straight off. Goretex for seats, if you will.

Certainly worth considering, if that's your main consideration for a retrim. It'll be a damn sight cheaper!
