As said already; it's not a case of allowing - it's a case of it fitting! the 2.7 and 3.0 are the wrong way round :)

Ah, longitudinal. Hmm, a quattro VRS! That would stray too much into Audi territory though.

Will write a review after the map anyway. I'm sure it'll be brilliant but I'll try to be as descriptive as I can.

If I was feeling very adventurous (and crucially had the spare/available cash) I'd find suitable donor cars - fresh vRS TFSI and crashed S3 8P, but with working running gear and engine ;)

OK you can't address the engine rotation issue, but you'd end with something a bit interesting....

There again you have the TT RS and forthcoming RS3 with that nice Audi lump. That would go well in a Skud and should fit, in theory....

Anyway - have fun with your map and happy repmobile bashing emoticon-0148-yes.gif

ahh, well how about an extra turbo then? :) to compete with the very rapid 123d

:)

mmmm got me thinking about the whole 3.0 Tdi VRS and luckily i have bought a petrol one or would stay in my mind until i found a nice donor car lol (especially after just replacing a front end on mine).

In regards to the engine rotation issues was the 1.8 20vt engine in the tt the same as the golf, leon and octy mk1 with different engine mounts? If so i understand that the 2.7 and 3.0 are not in anything transverse at the momment and probably wont, but the a4 can have the 2.7tdi longitudinal and thats the same chassis aint it?

Is there a passat 4wd and also is 2.0 the biggest diesel lump in them?

Right im stopping now or will be on the hunt for one lol

VW do have a twin turbo 2.0tdi, currently fitted in the Caravelle for one and there is a rumour of a 200hp version too.

There's a new version of the single turbo 2.0tdi being fittted in the A6, it has 175hp but 380nm (280lbs/ft) so getting there.....

Another problem of the 2.7 and 3.0tdi would be weight, imagine that much engine sitting over your front wheels and what that would do for handling (though would improve traction).

Weight is the biggest issue which is why a 4 pot is sensible in the handling stakes, but BMW get away with the 330d and Audi get away with the V6 TDI ok weight wise, and the Octavia is about the same size so its clearly achievable.

How's about the 4.2 twin turbo TDI from the A8? Sheer awesomeness. :-)

i own both a new octavia vRS cr170 and an A5 3.0TDI and although both diesel engines they couldnt feel more different to drive. im sure the octavia would be nice with the 3.0TDI but would definately need 4wd.

3.0tdi is just so smooth and effortless to fly up the speedo where as the cr170 seems to rev happier but is more deisel sounding and harsher. pros and cons but unfortunately the octy suffers from traction issues and they high torque levels are fine as they are but going much higher would leave it a bit of a lemon in my opinion. remap yes tho

Isn't the next Octy said to have the Golf R engine?

Let's not forget this car's been around since 2005! Thats 6 years!
