Octavia Radio SD card slot

Featured Replies

Hi there boys and girls,

I've got a Octavia VRS Estate TDI and was just wondering if anyone has tried using a SDHC card in the radio? I cant find any info in the radio manual about it and as SD cards are being replaced by SDHC and don't always work in older equipment i didn't want to get 1 for my tunes for it not to work.

Hope someone out there has a clue

:-)

Mines doesnt like SDHC either.

I've got a 16Gb SDHC card in mine, works a treat.

You will find plenty of threads on here about the bolero unit...

read about it here a general guide to SD cards and getting the best use of it.

bolero manual

as it states: -

Memory card case: SD memory cards (“Secure Digital Memory

Cards”), SDHC (“Secure Digital High Capacity Card”) and MMC

(“Multimedia Cards”) measuring 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm and with

a capacity of up to 32 GB are available. The case for the memory card

is located under the display.

What about the Columbus? i cant find anything in the manual about it.

The latest Columbus manual states MMC, SD and SDHC (see page 3 in the Columbus Manual v. 11.09). You might need a firmware update if you have an older version but it should work.

SDHC works fine...HONEST!!!!

The SDHC card must be formatted as FAT or FAT32 only, NTFS is not supported, then it should work fine. Formatting a large card in Vista or 7 is problematic as it will only let you format them NTFS so you need to find an alternative piece of software or use a digital camera to format the card.

The Bolero supports up to 32GB, and the newer Columbus also supports 32GB. The older (1Z0) columbus by default only supports 2GB SD Cards, but 32GB cards will work once the firmware is upgraded.

I have a SDHC card from my DSLR and its working perfect :)

Early firmware on the Columbus certainly only allows use of SD cards. It's only the later firmware that opens the possibility to use SDHC cards of higher capacity.

Mike

I can confirm that my car (2008, 58) had Columbus with s/w that wouldn't play SDHC. I upgraded to a later s/w version and now can use SDHC, bonus :)

Ok time for me to update the Firmware then.
