Made my wait even longer

Featured Replies

Now all things were going well, ordered my petrol vrs on 24th Jan and was shortly after given BW 13, happy days. Now I have just last week changed to DSG (after much thought) and I am being told my dealer that my car is now at the back of the queue and I need to wait another two weeks to get a BW. After having spoken to SUK i have been informed that the DSG's take around a month longer to get built then the manual equivalent. Looks like my simple change of an option code will delay my order by 2 months.

Dont know why im posting this, maybe so people can agree im an idiot. I hate waiting!!!!!!

After some initial doubts about the wisdom of geting DSG I am now a total (well 99%!) convert.

It is worth the wait - you won't regret it.

I really hope so,after my first go on a DSG I didnt like it because it had me in 6th at 40mph. However the salesperson didnt show me the tiptronic modes which looks awesome. I am 75% sure il love it, especially the improved capability to do a good 0-60 and use the tiptronic on windy roads. Im really looking forward to it just wished id gone for DSG in my original order.

unlucky for extra wait but dont change mind and ask for diesel would be a lot longer :D

That must have been the 6 speed then because on the flat at 40 mine will be at 1200rpm in 7th

Crikey!! Yes was a six speed in a Leon fr, lovely engine, average interior.

No way would I order the diesel, couldn't wait that long plus prefer petrol cars personally, I don't care about fuel economy though I probably should with the silly prices.

I got the manual and kinda hanker for the DSG now... The manual gearbox gives you little indicators for what gear to be in, for economical driving, and so to be at 6th gear @40mph is ok - except in mine it has to be done manually...

Maybe I should have given DSG more of a chance during test drives...

Totally different gearbox the 6 speed DSG can handle more power and tourqe

I can say quite positively that I have never regretted having the DSG box.

As regards the long term reliability we shall have to wait and see.

However, I do respect the transmission by always selecting N whenever I think it is justified.

This type of transmission requires more contemplation than a conventional auto slush box, and needs understanding to get the best from it.

There are times when it is more efficient in tiptronic mode rather than drive and this will vary according to driving style.

Many will tell you that the paddles shift leavers are no use at all, don't believe it. There is something rather smug and satisfying

using these very tactile leavers and they add to a more relaxed driving experience all-round.
