vRS II brakes..

Featured Replies

ok, I have managed to overheat my brakes already (never overheated them on the fiat, apart from 1 exploding pad, but it only had 1-2mill of material left, and me and chrisRS had just left the type-r's behind ;))

maybe its the extra speed of the vRS and I'm finding myself approaching corners quicker than I would have been in the fiat, but then shouldn't the brakes be up to the job?

MAYBE its because I haven't given them enough time to bed in ... it was on the snake pass approaching sheffield, I had done several brisk drives without issues, but I had been toking it along the snake (car was up to about 1000 miles) and me and a merc went past a slow car, and I carried on past the merc, only to come up to temporary lights on red around a corner.. (now I always travel at a speed at which I can stop in the distance I can see, I'm an ADI and I drive on blues at work, so I stopped with no issues) BUT I had the "burning brake" smell by the time I had stopped at the lights...

SO thoughts? are the brakes simply not up to the job? or maybe I need to give them another 1000 miles to bed in?

anyone else had problems?

Did they feel OK though? That's the main thing, any smells would just be burning old **** off.

Also don't forget the Fabia has an electronic diff. It uses the brakes to work, which in turn leads them to overheat quickly.

good point about the diff, I wasn't going beyond limits and bringing in the ESP though, traction was quite good, so the EDL shouldn't have been applying them...

and yes, they didn't fade, so felt ok, my worry would be , could they have done that stop again shortly after?

what you said about burning **** off could also be true..... they will have all the "new" grease and stuff on them. hhmm

*feels a little better.

If they didn't show signs of fading then I reckon you're ok. Do they feel alright now?

Ferodo DS2500 on order? :)

Use the flappy paddles more Dave and you can get more engine braking

If you need a driving lesson, just let me know ;):giggle::giggle:

yes, so maybe its just some crap burning off, no fade, but believe me, I could have pushed them MUCH harder :o

I will push them more, and if there are problems, some "fast road" pads will be in order ;)
