Drivers door window off runners

Featured Replies

As per the title, my drivers door window has somehow popped off it's runner!

Used the window for the first time in ages today and when I was winding down it stalled a bit, clunked then stayed where it was while the motor wound down :(

This means the window can be moved up and down simply by holding it from the inside and out and physically pushing it!

How easy a repair would this normally be and how the hell do I get the doorcard off?

Thanks in advance....

Sounds like the window reg has failed, you can get a repair kit for the mk4 golf reg, not sure if it fits the vrs

Cheers Andy I'll look into that this week

Sounds to me like the plastic window retaining clips have broken, it's a very common problem. VW dealers do a repair kit with metal clips that don't break. Sure it's the same for Skoda.

Hi, i know this is an old topic, but, i have a 2011 vrs and drivers door window has come off it's runner -- there was a horrible breaking of plastic sound then just the motor running and no window working! Got the door card off no problem (thanks to a few posts on here).

My question is -- how do i get the the window runner and fix the problem or is a dealer job?

It's fairly easy to do yourself Hamish. I did this on both fronts last week.

If you roll the window up and down with the door card of you can see the mechanisms working, get it into place so you can undo both nuts that clamp the window glass in place, MAKE SURE YOU TAPE THE WINDOW IN PLACE !

Then there are some black torx bolts, which connect to the runners, undo these, remove the motor electrical connector and awkwardly remove the whole lot.

I haven't replaced the insulating membrane, but will do so in future.

ah, you have a mk2 octavia? This is mk1 section.

ah! oops! Thanks for your help anyway Tom
