which filling station?

Featured Replies

Having read recent threads about problems with certain deisel fuels i wondered where people would advise me to fill my vrs up?

My town has the choice of BP, Shell, Esso, Tesco and morrisons and is their any differnence between them except for the price?!

I'm a big fan of BP Ultimate Diesel but it can be expensive around Exeter as all the stations are independently owned.

Shell V Power is good too, and is more competitively priced here.

That said, I have never had any trouble with fuels at all in 40 years!

The specialist garage that does work on my Nissan 200SX reckons to steer well away from supermarket fuels as turbo petrol engines can be fussy at quite modest boost.

Not a vRS, but meh.

I tend to use an ASDA close to uni, purely as it's ~5ppl cheaper than elsewhere. I've never had any issues with it, it's a bit lumpy when cold and has a bit of a stuttering tickover, but is fine under power. I used BP UItimate during the summer when I was earning, and it did run a bit better on that, and seemed more free revving past 5k rpm. Also gave slightly (maybe 2?) more MPG, to the point where it offset the higher costs of purchase. Although now I'm near the cheap ASDA, the ~20ppl difference between normal, and BP Ulimate isn't worth it.

Morrisons with a Millers additive has always done me well :)

Cheers,I have heard a few people saying they use millers additives. does it make much difference and how

often should you put it in your tank when filling up?

I've always just run with standard Shell diesel, round here it's usually around 1ppl cheaper than Tesco.

shell- you can join their drivers club and collect points which in return gives you money off fuel vouchers or wateva you prefer, its the onli fuel ive ever used in my vrs

Always used shell with the odd tank of vpower and never had any problems and as said you can collect points and get money off vouchers :)
