Problem with remap?

Featured Replies

Rite hello, i am gonna get my fabia vrs remapped really soon! but but but im scared. If in the future i require to take my car into the garage for anything and my battery has to be taken off. Will my cars ECU reset itself to factory settings so i loose my map!

Advice needed

No, the ecu does not just reset itself when battery is changed etc. The remap is put on by laptop in a port just below the steering wheel when you pull out the wee pop out drawer. The ecu cannot reset itself just because the battery is out, i changed my battery no change with map.

one risk is that if there is a software update for the ECU then the dealer may over write the map (wont happen with a battery disconnect) most reputable suppliers will reload your map if this happens

if you have the Likes of the STS box from Shark then if worried you can reset the car to standard and reload your map once you get the car back

PS - click the link in my sig. there is a group buy for the map and STS box with Shark at the moment :D

lmao someones after a sale

if had my car mapped 3 years now been into skoda and various other garages for work and alls good still

guilty as charged :giggle:

need the numbers so we all get the box for free

its unlikely there will be an ECU update for the Fabia 1 but thats about the only way you "could" loose the map
