FL Fabia Headlamp Beam Deflectors

I am taking the Fabia to France soon and want to put some beam deflectors on the headlamps. I had a quick check of the manual and for the standard (halogen) lights it recommends contacting the dealer for information on how to do this.

On my previous cars I have used the usual universal stick-on deflectors that you can buy at Halfords - I just wondered if anyone else has had to do this recently and can offer any advice on the best product? I'm asking because a quick google search highlighted a comment against the product on the Halfords website from a Fabia owner asking for advice on how to fit to a >07 Fabia - as the included instructions didn't cover the model.

Thanks

Maybe you don't need the deflectors. The headlight units are fully adjustable via some hexagon screws somewhere behind them, so mechanics are able to adjust the height of the beam.

On the other hand you can read owner's manual page 146 that says :

Halogen projector headlights

The adaptation of the headlights (valid for vehicles which are designed for driving on

the left and on the right) must be performed by switching over a bezel by a specialist

garage.

Halogen headlight

When using Halogen headlights, it is necessary to stick a sticker over a certain part of

the headlights in order to prevent the dazzling of oncoming traffic.

Note

You can obtain further information regarding masking over or converting the head-

lights from your specialist garage.

As a Fabia 2, I am guessing you mean From 07, not to 07?

If so, you CAN buy a set of headlight protectors from Skoda, for around £30. These will help prevent damage to the lights from stones, etc and they ALSO contain a small "pocket" that you can put a beam deflector (supplied) into, for continental driving.

Pricey, but kills 2 birds with 1 stone as they stay on the car for life, just using the beam bender as and when needed. B)

I have also heard mention of the lever to ajdust them from inside the headlight casing so you could look into this but some Fabia's have different lights so I am unsure if that info applies to both styles of light! I think lower spec models have a different lens, etc to higher spec cars, which have a projector style light, visible inside the casing.

There's a bezel which can be rotated apparently to flip the spray of the beam. Your skoda garage will have to do it apparently. It's a toss up over whatevers cheapest I suppose!

(Sorry Wrony thread!)
